Using a discount code

2 min read

A discount code is entered right on the payment screen, before you choose full payment or a deposit, it's applied to the total before either option is calculated, so both reflect the discount correctly.

What actually gets checked

A code isn't just accepted because it's typed correctly. Comps checks it for real against the organizer's own rules every time:

  • Whether it's still within its active date range.
  • Whether it's hit its own use limit, some codes are genuinely one-time, others are open to everyone.
  • Whether it applies as a flat amount off or a percentage, the organizer sets which.

If it doesn't work

You'll get a real reason, expired, already used up, or simply not recognised for this organizer, never a silent failure. Discount codes are specific to one organizer, a code from one competition never applies to another organizer's entries by accident.

Codes and deposits together

A discount applies to the full total first, then a deposit (if you're paying one) is worked out as a share of what's left, not the original, undiscounted amount.
