Comps: hosting dance competitions
2 min read
Comps is a dance-competition hosting and entry platform, everything from a dancer browsing and entering a competition, to an organizer running the whole event live on the day. It lives on this same Dancebase deployment, reachable from the "Comps" link on the front page, but it isn't a feature of your studio's own booking system, and it doesn't touch any of the categories, students, or bookings documented in the rest of this guide.
Why it's kept separate
A competition organizer isn't a studio tenant. They sign in with their own email and a one-time code, connect their own Stripe account for entry fees, and run competitions that any dancer from any studio can enter, not just yours. Under the hood, Comps has its own independent database tables, its own authentication, and its own Stripe Connect setup, none of it shares a row, a policy, or a piece of business logic with your studio's own data.
Its own guide, on purpose
If you're here for anything about your own studio's categories, bookings, teams, or students, the rest of this guide is still the right place. Comps is worth knowing about, but it's a separate door.
