What happens if an entry goes unpaid

2 min read

Submitting an entry and paying for it are two separate steps on Comps, on purpose, an entry is confirmed the moment it's accepted, and paying can happen right after or a little later, from My Entries whenever you're ready.

The real deadline

Some organizers set a non-payment expiry window, after which an unpaid entry is automatically released, freeing that spot for someone on the waitlist. Not every organizer turns this on, but where they have, you'll see the real deadline on My Entries next to the unpaid entry itself, not buried in fine print somewhere else.

Two unpaid entries on My Entries, still confirmed and waiting on payment.
An unpaid entry stays right here on My Entries, confirmed but unpaid, until it's paid or the organizer's own deadline passes.

Pay early if you're not sure

If a competition's popular and running a waitlist, an unpaid entry sitting past its deadline is exactly what opens a spot for someone else. Paying promptly protects your own place.
