Registration fees explained

3 min read

A registration fee is a genuinely separate thing from a membership price, a one-off or annual charge collected per student, in addition to whatever a category's own tuition already costs. Defined once from Settings → Registration Fees, entirely optional, plenty of studios don't charge one at all.

The Add a registration fee form under Settings, with fields for Fee name, a One-off/Annual type dropdown, Per student ($), Max per family (optional), Tax rate (optional), a Due on registration date/with first installment dropdown, and an Active checkbox
Settings → Registration Fees → + Add a registration fee. Every field the article below describes, exactly as it appears.

What you configure

  • Fee type. One-off (billed once, ever) or Annual (billed once per year).
  • Amount. A per-student dollar figure.
  • Max per family cap. Caps the total a single family pays even with multiple kids registering, so a big household isn't charged the full per-student fee for every child.
  • Due date rule. Charged on the registration date itself, or bundled in with the first installment.
  • Tax rate. Applied on top, if relevant to your studio.
Studio Settings showing the Registration Fees section summary: 'One-off or annual fees charged per student, in addition to a category's own tuition. Toggle a season's own registration fee on/off from its own wizard.'
A fee is defined once here, then any Season can toggle it on or off for itself from that season's own builder, without redefining it each time.

This is separate from every category's own membership price

A registration fee sits alongside a student's regular membership charges, it doesn't replace or reduce them, think of it as a one-time "joining" cost, distinct from what they pay to actually attend classes.
