What "Founding member" means and when to toggle it

2 min read

The Founding member toggle on a student's record is a simple flag, but it's a meaningful one, plenty of studios use it to mark the genuinely early group who joined before things were fully up and running, and to recognize that with real, ongoing perks.

A student's Tier / Status Override panel with Active, Inactive, and Founding Member as three buttons in the same row
Founding Member lives right alongside Active and Inactive on a student's own record, its own independent toggle, not tied to status.

What it's used for

  • It can be used as an eligibility condition when building a category (see Setting eligibility rules for a category), letting you gate a benefit specifically to founding members.
  • It shows as a visible badge wherever the rest of a student's tags appear, a small, permanent mark of status.
A category's Eligibility rule set to Founding member is Yes, with a live preview reading 'If founding member is true, block them from joining.'
Founding member, used as a real eligibility rule. Flip the action to Flag for your review instead of Block to use it as a perk-unlock rather than a gate.

Quick answers

Is there a limit to how many students can be founding members?
No hard limit, it's entirely your studio's own call who qualifies and how you define "early."
Can it be turned off later if I toggled it by mistake?
Yes, it's a simple toggle either way, on or off, at any time.
